The European Fan Palm brings instant structure and a relaxed Mediterranean feel to outdoor spaces. Its fan shaped leaves create movement and texture, making it a strong choice for patios, balconies and sheltered gardens. It grows slowly and holds its shape well, so it works as a long term feature rather than something that quickly outgrows its space.

Unlike many palms, this one is well suited to UK conditions. It handles cooler temperatures, wind and periods of dryness, which makes it a reliable option for outdoor planting. Over time it develops more character, becoming fuller and more sculptural each year.

A few house rules...

Full sun to partial shade. This palm is very adaptable and happy in bright open spaces. It handles direct sun well but also tolerates some shade.

Water regularly while establishing, especially if grown in a pot. Once settled, it becomes more drought tolerant. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between watering and ensure good drainage.
